We've made OOH links paperless and repeat prescriptions paperless and now we've made QUOF data collection paperless as well. Well in fact we'd done this before QUOF came along to aid patients but it turns out it works for QUOF rather well. Patients who do their own home monitoring can send your practice messages via the internet, saving your staff all of the work of having to deal with telephone, fax or paper request slips. The great worry about electronic communications for GP surgeries is the fear of being overwhelmed. The practice identifies and recruits suitable patients. Only patients who have been given the login can access the website and all messgaes are stored or archived so you'll have an audit trail. The link is secure, no data that can identify the patient leaves the surgery.
1. The patient logs onto the GePmail Patient Portal and can use four different types of messages: Repeat prescription requests, Free format general text messages, Blood pressure readings and Blood sugar results.
2. The messages are collected and arrive alongside your OOH messages, so nothing new for your staff to learn.
3. Blood pressures and blood sugars can be exported as read coded entries directly into the patient's record, just like your OOH messages. We'll be adding other chronic disease monitoring later on.
We think this is a really exciting development that has the potential to improve the service for your patients as well as cut out yet another source of paper pushing. You can try it for yourself on our demo server: go to:
